Following a groundbreaking event on April 27th, 2016, Silicon Ranch began building the solar farm. Once the facility is operational in early 2017, the 50 MWac solar plant will produce enough electricity to power approximately 6,500 homes. The Hattiesburg solar farm will be on 450 acres and will feature more than 600,000 solar panels.
