Green Power EMC, the renewable energy supplier for 38 Georgia Electric Membership Corporations (EMCs), has reached an agreement with Silicon Ranch Corporation to purchase the full output of a new 20 megawatt (MW) solar project planned for construction in southeast Georgia.
Silicon Ranch also owns and operates Georgia's largest solar array in Social Circle, GA and Tennessee's largest solar facility at Volkswagen's Chattanooga Manufacturing facility. At the end of 2013, Silicon Ranch had successfully completed and is operating facilities totaling approximately 55 megawatts, making it one of the top 15 solar operators in the U.S.
Turn-Key Energy ProviderBusiness owners consistently state they are under pressure to reduce energy costs, explore energy saving technology and create roadmaps for becoming a "green" enterprise. From sole proprietors to corporate executives, these business leaders expressed frustration that there is not an easy, cost-effective way to incorporate clean, renewable solar power into their company's energy mix.
Silicon Ranch eliminates all these barriers with a simple turn-key solution. The firm will develop and operate utility-scale solar production facilities configured to allow companies to lease production units with no capital commitment. The ability to lease solar production capacity instead of purchasing solar arrays addresses the main concerns expressed by business owners as a reason for not expanding consumption of renewable energy.
TrainingRegional Energy Training Center
As an additional community benefit, Silicon Ranch can also develop a regional energy-training center. The regional energy-training center provides classroom and on-the-job training in solar installation, maintenance and weatherization activities. Upon successful completion of the training curriculum we assist in placing graduates in jobs, especially targeting placement for low income and unemployed individuals.
