Green Power EMC, the renewable energy supplier for 38 Georgia Electric Membership Corporations (EMCs), has reached an agreement with Silicon Ranch Corporation to purchase the full output of a new 20 megawatt (MW) solar project planned for construction in southeast Georgia.

Silicon Ranch also owns and operates Georgia's largest solar array in Social Circle, GA and Tennessee's largest solar facility at Volkswagen's Chattanooga Manufacturing facility. At the end of 2013, Silicon Ranch had successfully completed and is operating facilities totaling approximately 55 megawatts, making it one of the top 15 solar operators in the U.S.


Pulaski Energy Park - Silicon Ranch Corporation developed, owns and operates a 25-acre, 1.4-megawatt solar energy campus in Pulaski, TN. As the second largest, privately owned solar installation in the state of Tennessee, this ground-mount solar system is the centerpiece of Silicon Ranch's master plan that includes a solar training campus consisting of administrative, classroom and service buildings.

Second Harvest - This rooftop installation of 840 solar panels atop of Second Harvest Food Bank in Nashville, Tenn.produces 260,000-kilowatt hours annually from the sun's energy and turns it into electricity. The project is expected to provide cost savings to Second Harvest Food Bank that equate to 480,000 additional meals for distribution to its 46 county service area.

Agricenter International - This 1 megawatt solar farm at Agricenter International in Memphis, Tenn. utilizes 4,160 photovoltaic modules manufactured by Sharp's Memphis manufacturing facility, whichare mounted on single-axis trackers, equating to Tennessee's first large scale tracking solar system. Agricenter International bills itself as the World's Largest Urban Farm and Research Test Facility.

Memphis Bioworks - As the Memphis Commercial Appeal proclaimed, "Who knew you could turn an eyesore into a flagship for green energy? That's just what Memphis Bioworks will do this spring when 3,000 solar panels are installed on the top floor of an aging parking garage on Union Avenue."

Silicon Ranch constructed covered parking on the top deck of the Bioworks parking garage and installed made-in-Memphis photovoltaic solar panels by Sharp, Inc. The parking deck hosts 750 kilowatts of solar arrays and produces over 1000 megawatt-hours of electricity annually.

Simon Solar - Once completed in late 2013, Simon Solar Farm will be one of the Southeast's largest solar farms, a 200-acre, 30 Megawatt solar facility in Social Circle, Ga. Social Circle, Ga. is approximately 50 miles east of Atlanta and will serve customers of Georgia Power, a Southern Company subsidiary. Silicon Ranch, through its Simon Solar Farm subsidiary, has entered into a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement with Georgia Power to deliver solar-generated electricity.

Volkswagen Chattanooga - This 9.5-megawatt photovoltaic solar system, built in 2012, provides 13.5 gigawatts hours of electricity annually to VW. The ground mounted solar installation covers approximately 80 acres and uses more than 38,000 solar panels. VW's Chattanooga assembly plant is the first and only automotive manufacturing plant in the world to be LEED® Platinum certified by the U.S. Green Building Council.

HCA - HCA and the Healthtrust Purchasing Group have entered into a pilot project with the Nashville-based Silicon Ranch Corporation to host large utility-scale solar arrays on two of the HCA headquarters buildings in Nashville, Tenn. including their mission-critical Data Center. Silicon Ranch owns and operates the two 193.2 Kw solar arrays, and HCA has entered into a long-term rooftop lease for hosting the system.

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) through the Generation Partners program is purchasing the solar generated power.

The two rooftop solar arrays will generate clean electricity preventing the emission of 350 tons of carbon dioxide. This innovative partnership allows HCA to show its commitment to their comprehensive environmental strategy while not having to use significant financial resources to deploy this green technology.
